Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is convinced Roshn Saudi League will be among “top-five leagues in the world”
Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has stated Roshn Saudi League is on course to join the “top-five leagues in the world”.
Ronaldo, 38, arrived at the Riyadh club in December. He has netted 14 times during 15 top-flight appearances for second-placed employers who are locked in a close title race with leaders Al Ittihad.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner completed Tuesday’s 3-2 comeback win versus Al Shabab which maintained a three-point gap, with only two matches remaining.
When Ronaldo was asked post-match by SSC about his impressions of the competition, he said: “In my opinion, the Saudi league is getting better and the next year will be even better.
“Step-by-step, I think this league will be [among] the top-five leagues in the world, but they need time, they need players, they need infrastructure.
“But I believe that this country has amazing potential, they have amazing people and the league will be great, in my opinion.”

Al Nassr went two-goals behind in Tuesday’s rollercoaster Riyadh derby, a result which would have ended their title hopes. But Ronaldo’s superb curled effort earned the memorable victory to keep them in lockstep with Al Ittihad.
“The team did a fantastic game,” the ex-Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid forward added. “A 2-0 defeat is very, very difficult, but we believe until the end and we score three goals.
“Congratulations to the whole team and the supporters were amazing today. So, we are very happy.”
Al Nassr travel to 10th-placed Ettifaq on Saturday, for matchweek 29.
