Roshn Saudi League: Ronaldo debuts with a win as Talisca header sees Al Nassr past Ettifaq

Talisca’s solitary first-half header proved the difference as Cristiano Ronaldo experienced a winning start to his career in Roshn Saudi League, against a determined Ettifaq.
Sunday was the moment that the football fans around the world had been waiting for since Ronaldo completed his move to Al Nassr.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was treated to a vociferous reception by the home crowd, who were delighted to finally see the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus man in their colours and proudly wearing the captain’s armband.
Ronaldo was joined in Al Nassr’s starting XI by Argentina international Pity Martinez and Brazilian Talisca – and it was the former Benfica man who broke the deadlock after 31 minutes. The forward stole in behind Ronaldo’s run to head home from Abdulmajeed Al Sulaiheem’s cross and maintain his lead at the top of the goal scoring charts, with a 12th of the season.
Ronaldo had his chances to add to the tally, but Ettifaq goalkeeper Paulo Victor repelled him.
The visitors made life tough for Al Nassr and gave them a stern test, giving Ronaldo a taste of what he can expect from opponents in Roshn Saudi League.
Al Nassr’s triumph was enough for the home side to go back to the top of the table, after Al Hilal’s 2-1 victory over Abha earlier. They remain unbeaten since early September.
Ettifaq finish matchweek 14 in 10th.
